My 9th grader plays volleyball for our high school and plans to do track in the spring. She is an active Sea Scout and plans to start volunteering for the local police department soon. My 4th, 5th, and 6th grader are active with Boy Scouts and our aquatics center, and my kinder is into ballet, swimming, and princess parties.
My kids were homeschooled before ORCA and we intially started to save the budget. Now, ORCA is our community and one that we identify with quite well. I've always had wonderful teachers, an understanding administration, and an overall positive experience. I consider our family "ORCA Champions": we are willing to advertise, cheer, encourage, bend over backwards, and go all out for our public school!
I have seen ORCA from it's very beginning and I can tell you that as technology improves the program goes right along with it! Just when I think it's the best it will ever be, it gets better! I'm so glad for those recap orientations. I enjoy hearing LC (learning coach), student, and curriculum experiences. If I can lend an ear, I'm here!
Not only am I a Learning Coach, but I am the elementary community coordinator (a.k.a. field trip person) for the Portland Metro Area. I am always open to ideas and if anyone would like school hours to count, I'm all for filling out the paperwork to get that done! If I can't be there to join, I can call a teacher.
I am an advocate for school choice and I like to stay current with the politics in Salem. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all mold so I do what I can to make sure I'm aware of what I can do.
Everyone says that I'm energetic and an organizer. I don't know about that, but I do know when something is important to me, I want to put everything I've got into it. I have no regrets.
